What is your favorite Snack Cake?→[More:]
Without a doubt, Little Debbie Star Crunch is mine.
Just the standard Lays. Nothing fancy. I'm drooling thinking about that.
I put more thought into the snack cake thing and I used to love Jos. Louis (pronounce Joe Louis). I think they're a canadian thing though so most of you mecha-ers won't have experienced the tastey, chocolately goodness that was the Jos. Louis. Now I want one. Thanks Sci... :P
(I like the Hostess or Little Debbie fruit pies when I'm out on a long bicycle ride. Nothing like dropping 400-odd calories in your bod in about 4 bites of pie.)
I think at one point I would have said Twinkies, and at another Suzy Q's, but lately I've had an inexplicable fascination with the weird plastic taste of Tastycake Butterscotch Crumpets. Everything about them, from the icing that doesn't really stay on, to the sponge cake that feels at once too dense and too insubstantial, to the fact that there are three (3!) in a pack, has me wanting more. I'm ashamed.
Lady Linda is queen of my heart. Alas, I haven't seen the brand "Quality You Can See" in far too long.
These bakeries in Brooklyn make Hostess and Little Debbie cakes as well as their own local knockoffs, which stay on the shelves for a much shorter duration than their national-brand counterparts, due to friendly pricing and factory freshness.
When I finish my time machine, I'm going to take a bag of these cakes to Louis XIV and win an appointment as Official Confectioner to the Sun King. They're so sweet and fluffy and good; I mean, there's no competition!
All about the Swiss Cake Rolls, which I think are the same as Ho Hos. I love peeling off the chocolate, then unraveling the cake to lick at the filling.
Hostess's Gem Donuts - chocolate flavour (although the powder sugar version is good, too). Ding Dong's (which are known as King Don's here in Canuckland) are another favourite.
