A mix of Top 40 and New Wave/MTV hits of the year I graduated HS, Princess Grace died, and other ancient historical events of great significance happened, i guess. ; >

Oh, it was still Morning in America, no one had said "just say no" yet, and they hadn't invented "a very special episode" of any sitcom yet either.

Dynasty was a monster hit on TV, and Real People and That's Incredible were still on the air (most people didn't have cable yet, and there was very little on cable anyway at that point except for movies and repeats of old tv shows).

Pete Rose was still playing Baseball (and i guess betting on it too)

It was a dull year, newswise and historywise, but had some great music : >

As long as you don't play Journey, I'm cool with it. My 9th grader's High school band did a Journey show for football season. Oy. A sign of my mis-spent youth is that I knew all the words. and are you *sure* that they hadn't started saying "just say no?" (I graduated from HS in 1982.)
