OMG KITTEN So we're adopting a kitten today. →[More:] This is a weird combination of impulsive and not: we've been talking about getting one for a couple of years now, but it's just never been "the right time;" now is as good a time as any, and, well, there's this cat.

My girlfriend's a security guard downtown, and on one of her patrols this morning, she heard noises coming from one of the dumpsters. She found an eight-month-old kitten sealed into a box with packing tape. Kitty went post-haste to a vet, who pronounced her hypothermic and a little underfed, but otherwise healthy.

The cat is apparently beautiful and affectionate and has already taken quite a shine to my girlfriend. So we're picking kitty up from the vet tonight and taking her home with us.
