Oddly, I always loved the song, but it took me years to figure out the meaning of the title. I can be a little obtuse at times.

I LOVE this song. From the first hearing, it fucking blew me away and made me love Big Star even more.

It's the Leslie speakers on the backing vocals that kill me the most. Well that and lyrics.

Great song.
The Big Star cover of Femme Fatale on the 3rd record is another personal fave of mine. I'm at work, or I'd ... uh ... yousendit it.
richat: Nothing against September Gurls or anything, but When My Baby's Beside Me is the best Big Star song, IMHO. Actually, the best song of its kind (i.e. in the unnamed category in my head).
