I think in Japan, people believe that blood type is related to personality characteristics.

I've donated blood several times. The first time to find out my blood type. After that, I did it for the cookies.

I should donate blood more often, but the nurses always complain that they can't find my veins. They try the arm that works (right arm), give up, try the other arm, give up, go back to the right arm and then natter on for 20 minutes about how TINY my vein is, as my blood sllloooowwwwllly fills that damn bag. And then both my arms are bruised because they spent all that time fishing around. I don't so much mind the idea of a needle in my arm, so long as I don't have to see them wiggling it around in there! I like to think of my arm as a solid object!

It's either that or I get a Filipino nurse who spends the whole time marvelling over how white I am. ("No, really! You so white! You tan? No, you burn! Look how white!")

Mine is O something. I can't give blood anymore as I'm diabetic. I don't know the reasoning behind that rule.
