And I just finished the "His Dark Materials" trilogy from melissa may and sleepy_pete, so I'm in book heaven, which is my favorite place to be.

So, I'm wondering, Metachat, should we create a place where we can acknowledge gifts and such? Should we include this sort of stuff on our user pages, or some part of the wiki? Or what? Posts scroll so fast, I'm afraid my mysterious benefactor may not see this, for example.

The card read "Hi, from MetaChat"! The gift wrapping was too nice to spoil... I carefully used my pocket knife to cut the tape to open it, and I'm going to use the pretty grosgrain ribbon as a bookmarker.

I somehow think everyone would be happy for you to mark the occasion by adding something to your wiki page. I suppose I see this shoutout as 'due marking' but I'm sure the secret admirer would get a smile from a perma-remembrance.

Oddly enough, taz, it wasn't from me. You could probably tell that if it didn't include any strange rubber toys in the box and it wasn't plastered with odd stickers on the outside.

Shane, at this very moment I'm looking at my "goldfish swimming in a transparent superball" that's always on my desk. I may have to occasionally fight my little nephew to keep it, but there it stays with the carved rabbit, the little trumpeting elephant and the tiny silver compass.
