Apology I can't open my mouth here today without hurting someone's feelings. Sorry, everybody. I should probably just stay away for a couple of days.

Hey, we're two of a kind. People can have short memories when they want to be welcoming. Maybe this is something that needs to be handled between you and the offended party? As Captain Bigmouth myself, I don't want to preach, but I don't think much was ever solved by running. If you stay and talk it out, you might even learn something.

Whatever you decide, we'll leave the light on for ya.

Don't go 'way! We all put our foots in it from time to time. If you feel like a break, that's OK -- but don't feel like you have to hide away! And on the unlikely chance that you did offend anyone, may they look on it as an opportunity to practice forgiveness. We all need to cut each other some slack every so often.

Also, well, at this point this place is like a pretty big family gathered together for a perpetual thanksgiving, and I've already resigned myself to the fact that someone's gonna get drunk and say things they shouldn'a, someone's going to eat too much and puke on someone else's shoes, someone will offend someone else, who will offend someone else.

Someone will talk too much, someone will retreat to the corner and refuse to speak, someone will tell the same story 20 times. The kids will fight and cry, we'll disagree on when to eat, where to sit, whether we want to watch the big game or play Scrabble. Someone will keep changing the music, and someone else will ignore us all and do sarcastic blow-by-blow entries to their blog.

Never mind. We'll all need to get fresh air occasionally, but I hope there will always be a warm fire crackling in the fireplace, lots of good stuff to eat on the table and plenty of conversation waiting inside whenever we want it.

As a form of protest, I will speak only in metaphors for the rest of the day.
