Maybe do "Where Y'at, Part II" this Friday? That will give people who haven't done it a chance to participate, and those who played last week a chance to add something new? Though, of course, something new would be great fun as well.

As far as the voting... maybe we could set up a more or less simple way of dealing with it (I haven't tried this yet), but I have to warn you that these things get pretty time-consuming for the person handling it, and in this way these projects tend to dwindle and die out (like, I want to do emcee again, but keep putting it off, because it requires so much organizing). It may be better just to get ideas informally and let shane set the topic each week, without a "process" that needs to be organized.

It would be simple to have a wiki page where the topic is announced each monday (along with a regular post), and that has links to past Photo Friday threads.

Yes, because setting up a rigorous voting process is my idea of fun. (Hey, don't look at me; I run the book club.)

How about we keep doing what we've been doing; only instead announce in the Friday thread what next Friday's topic is. People can post their photos AND suggestions for two weeks hence in that thread.

Oh, and how much time do people need to snap a quick photo of their living environment? Not everyone needs to post a four page photo-essay. In fact, that makes it harder to keep up with everyone's posts and improves the chances that people will skim the thread for their favorites, rather than viewing everyone's single image (and thereby getting to know more people on the site). I thought it was Photo (singular) Friday, not Photos in Essay Format Friday. I'm not going to go so far as to suggest everyone GTOFB (this is a collaborative site, after all), and they should be free to express themselves however, but I will remind people that sometimes it's easy to get swept up in a project (particularly when there are things you'd rather not be doing) and to have things blown completely out of proportion. I think keeping it simple keeps it the most fun; post one quintessential photo and then a link to the rest (if you like).

Did you miss the part where I said voting was needlessly complicated? I also said I run the book club, so I can tell you from experience, if that helps my credibility.

Here's a breakdown:
Friday, you post a thread.
You announce in that thread what next Friday's subject is.
You ask people to post, with their photos, their suggestions for the Friday after next.
People post their photos for the current week and make their suggestions for the Friday after next.
People are free to second suggestions made by other users.
Either a clear winner emerges, or you get to pick whatever topic you want (as we've done for the past two weeks with no ill effects).

It's great, but I'd prefer to clutter up MeCha with one thread for suggestions, one for voting, and one for actual photos, thus making life easier on what's left of my brain.

I like the idea of voting, as it's democratic and I'm not tempted to be biased or partial to ideas I fancy.

But you're right, a voting thread is probably unnecessary, as people could just hash it out amongst themselves in the theme ideas thread and, as you say, a clear winner would probably emerge. Or I could play Stalin and pick.

Then again, that would clutter up MeCha.

I was tempted to jokingly suggest Photo Friday Theme: Women, post pics of your breasts (or of yourselves in the shower) (and then post the real theme.) But then I thought our dear Speck might think I was signalling her out (after that previous thread.)

Just to toss in my .02, I don't want to vote. I want to be dictated to. Tell me what to take pictures of and I will go out with unquestioning obedience and take pictures. Also, tell me on Monday and then I'll get it done by Friday.
