Belle & Sebastian, New Porn concert LIVE on NPR, 8pm EST→[More:]
I may have to skip MeCha radio for this. B&S was also on Fresh Air today. It's always a source of mystery to me to hear somebody whose singing voice is perfectly understandable but who speaks some sort of gibberish when they're interviewed. (Apparently, Wikipedia thinks it's an actual dialect.)

Thanks for this.

I can't express how pissed off I am that this concert sold out so fast and that scalped tickets are going for hundreds of dollars.

Anyone in the LA area with tickets for 3/18-19, willing to sell, or looking for a date should contact me asap. If you are female, I will totally put out, and/or do your dishes and make you fruit pancakes.

Sez here that Neko isn't on the tour. However, the singer lady in NYC on 3/3 definitely sounded like Neko Case. Was that her?

The All Songs Considered page usually has these for podcast after the live show has ended. You can probably download it off of one of the popular indie music MP3 blogs as well. So you don't have to listen tonight if you can't make it.

willpie: the woman you heard was most likely Kathryn Calder. She plays keyboards and sings, and was added to the band for shows where Neko couldn't make it. As it turns out, she is also Carl Newman's neice. This was not discovered until after she'd joined the band. (Some sorta "long-lost adopted sister" kinda story, as I recall.) And yeah, she's got a great voice.

Kathryn was so sad looking last night. Poor girl is crazy sick. She could barely talk. NP were great. Belle and Sebastian were transcendent. Now I get to listen from the comfort of my office which is nice, since I'm beat from the show last night.
