The Oscar quit being anyone's "record" of the actual best film in any given year. To wit: Chicago, Gladiator, Million Dollar Baby, Titanic, Beautiful Mind, etc, etc. I don't think I've agreed with a pick since Braveheart (and I know plenty of people scoff at that one too).

mullacc, Braveheart was my favorite movie for a long time. I viewed it as a film and not a historical documentary. It was beautifully made and I still love it to this day. Suck it, haters.

But then, I'm pretty tolerant. Waterworld was a favorite of mine as well.
