For anyone who ever doubted that Prince could rock A YSI'ed video→[More:]I stumbled on a torrent of Steve Martin's recent SNL appearance, which featured Prince as the musical guest. I snipped his first musical performance out of the show. While I have long since thought his production was his worst enemy, I really, really think he nailed this one. And, some guitar acrobatics to boot.

Some of his guitar faces and moves remind me of Hendrix...they were/are amazing showmen.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I love the little guy. But...I have talked to people who couldn't stand him, and more than that, argued that he was an untalented weirdo.

I am always willing to concede on the weirdo point, but he's a monstrous talent, who buries his fantastic songs in production (usually) I think. I would love to see a Prince unplugged...

I didn't realize Prince could rock until I saw the videos from SNL and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I'm still not a fan of the vast majority of his music, but I gained an appreciation from it, once I realized that he knows how to rock, he just chooses not to.

back in my metalhead/classic rock days I didn't quite get Prince, I was under the mistaken impression that he was just another silk sheet dance-floor guy. But 'Let's Go Crazy' and 'I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man' rock as hard and persuasively as anything I've heard. Along with Bruce, he was probably the best Top 40 artist of the 80's, IMHO.
