If he's already in prison for life, why keep it secret?

I think there's some chance he may get out. I was wondering if it might be a bid to get out - "I'll seem to come clean and be remorseful so that when it comes time to apply for parole I can convince people I'm rehabilitated." But this seems a long shot, as he would be tried and sentenced for these additional crimes.

I also read sometime back that there was a UofT unviersity student murdered about the time that Bernardo was operating. The girl's boyfriend got convicted of it, but the vague description of him and his car also described Bernardo and his car. Maybe there's more to come....

Media attention. And look, his name's in the paper, and being posted around the internet.

And maybe he can put Karla on the hook for more crimes...

It means he's a psychopath and can't resist bragging.

He's a sociopath, not a psychopath.

I think I should have phrased this post differently - I don't care what his motivations are, I just wonder what will come of this.

I imagine at a certian point you start wanting for the history book to reflect just how bad you are. Also maybe it's a ploy by Paul to make sure he doesn't get tagged with Elizabeth's murder. The line of reasoning being he's admitted to all these other crimes that aren't affecting him one way or another why not cop to the Elizabeth Bain murder too if he did it.

Sociopath is just another term for psychopath. There is no clinical distinction. The popular belief that sociopaths and psychopaths are differentiated by violence is woithout foundation; the condition of psychopathy does not require violence as part of the diagnosis.

The only outcome (for him) will be an increase in his social status in prison, or his murder in prison by someone seeking a higher status.

I don't know, maybe he'll sleep better at night after getting it off his chest.
