Polly want a cracker My neighbours are driving me crackers. They bought a parrot last month and they're trying to teach it to say "God is love". [more]

There are 5 family members and so they are taking the repetitions in shifts. They seem to think that they need to say the phrase reallyloudly to convince the parrot to repeat it. No word from the parrot yet - just squawks.

Perhaps one early morning, one of the family members will awake to find the parrot waiting, watching, on his chest. The parrot will squawk, "God is love," just before pecking his eyes out.

Heh/ugh.

Perhaps be a better speech trainer than your neighbours and teach the parrot (using a narrow cone directional speaker?) to say something you want it to say?

Someone told me about their dad's parrot that he tried and tried to teach "cute" things to say. Eventually from watching TV the bird started saying "Can you hear me now?" but nothing else.

Teach it to say Go Evolve instead if you get a chance. It is close enough that it should learn it quick if they make any progress with God is love.
