Fashion Question: Is it wrong to wear a tulle party skirt out in the middle of the day (with a cardigan and tank top)? Discuss.
Not if the sweater is black and the skirt is brown.

It is if you are an on duty patrol officer.

Not if it's you doing it, dame, because anything you have chosen to wear has to be utterly fabulous.

It is not only not wrong, it is very right. Work it, girl.

What kind of shoes are we wearing with this fabulous ensemble?
posted by iconomy 16 February | 14:22
No. That sounds devoon.

I haven't the slightest idea what tulle is. I am not fabulous enough.

/wonders if he's wearing tulle right now and doesn't know it.

Well, we are going to pick up our boots that had the zipper broken. So, ideally, flat black leather Camper boots. If not, it will be Pumas & gray fishnets. The skirt is black with three layers of tulle; the tank is light gray with small, darker gray dots; and the tank is a springy type of green.

Ricaht, tulle is what tutus are made of. You probably don't wear it, but someday the kidlets will.

I think about 5% of the people in the world can pull this off. One of those people is dame.
posted by matildaben 16 February | 14:31
I should note the other possibility is to wear a cordouroy skirt over the tulle and just have it stick out the bottom.
posted by dame 16 February | 14:33
dame, you will look great.

Booooo show the tulle!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 16 February | 14:37
Not wrong. Go for it. Ideally with the boots.
posted by rainbaby 16 February | 14:38
ahhh okay. Yeah, I am most definitely NOT wearing any. In that case, I agree with everyone here. If YOU can't pull this off, no one can dame. I am sure you can.

There are so many variables in something like this. The best solution would be to post either a picture of you wearing the outfit, or (second best) of the outfit on a hanger.

I wish. But I haven't got one of those fancy electronic cameras I've heard so much about.

I'm not sure how I went from reading these comments to this awesome paper doll site, but I've been having so much fun dressing up celebrities. You can play with anyone that's not in the VIP section. I dressed Audrey Hepburn in sort of what I imagine your outfit to look like, dame.

I also gave Heidi Klum a makeover and dressed Vanessa Paradis in a very chic but funky outfit that she can wear to accompany Johnny Depp to the Oscars.

I'm with Richat, didn't have the foggiest what Tulle was. But, given Dame's explanation, I say go for it!

Great!

It's not one of those sequin cardigans though, is it?
posted by flopsy 16 February | 15:04
OMG. It finally all came together. I have this soft T-shirt with ruched sleeves & dipping neckline: over the tank it gives the perfect hobo layering to make it work.

(The cardigan is just acrylic.)
posted by dame 16 February | 15:05
Also, I should note that the shirt has just the right kind of dress-shirt but not really effect. Look what cleanin up your room & posting to MeCha can do. Today, if anyone whistles, i'll just thank the bunnies.
posted by dame 16 February | 15:06
Mmm, dipping necklines... always a good choice!

go for it, but I'd lose the fishnets if I were you

I'm so glad someone asked "what's tulle" before I had to.

Anyone wants to know anything about denim, let me know.

I'd actually like to see richat in tulle.

she's going out to catch us some supper. she needs tools.

What, you never heard 'Aqualung?' Your ignorance of prog-rock history astonishes me.
