Music for Moonbird (and anyone else who wants it). [More:]Moonbird, Matilda mentioned that you were hunting for a copy of God's Golden Eyes by John Hiatt. IIRC, the most awesome mygothlaundry included it in a recent broadcast.

So, here's some John Hiatt for all of youse.

God's Golden Eyes
Crossing Muddy Waters
And my personal favorite of his, Cry Love.
I have to share this. It was our first dance at our wedding, and that was BEFORE Jewel did her lame assed version.

Love that song, richat. I think the first time I heard it was on a bad 80s sitcom like Family Ties or something, but I could be making that up.

It could have been. I found it by hearing SLow Turning, wondering who the black guy was singing it, finding out it was John (who is not black at all, of course) and then working backward to the album which preceded Slow Turning.

The story I heard about the song was that he wrote it to himself at a time in his life when he was lower than low. I liked that idea. mrs richat liked it too...Immediately after our first dance, one of my friends (who was the guy who introduced me to the glorious punk of the Vibrators) ran up to me, in his hyoeractive way, and almost bellowed, "Best first dance EVER!"

Ah, the memories....

Yeah, richat, he has a lot of songs about (or which mention) alcoholism.
