Am I Alone in the Universe, then? Where is everybody? A strange silence hangs across the land.
No. I'm here too. But it's a grey dreary day in NYc, and I'm into the beer already. I can't think of anything to post except more music and even I'm tired of that.
It turned into a beautiful afternoon here and I should go out and walk the dog but I feel lazy. I ran into some people from Baltimore who knew all the people I knew back in the 80s last night at the bar, it was really weird. Details - and pictures - if you're truly bored.
I have to work this afternoon (at home though). I am procrastinating. Heavily.
I may crack a beer and work. Work doesn't seem as bad, then.
We had the inlaws up for the weekend, which was fun. Last night we took them to see The Producers, and then out for dinner at a bistro in Alphabet City. Happy times!
Hey Mygothboredom - grey here also. Just found out I have over seven hundred dollars in rent and bills due by Wednesday. I have less than 200 in my account. Woot.
But, there is hope - job interviews next week, maybe the final one for a promising position. If I can convince my landlord/roommate not to cut my legs off it might work out.
I'm sitting here impatiently waiting for my friend to call me so I can drink many beers and give him some burned dvds on that 70s show, MST3K, and the Mitch Hedburg comedy special. I'm also impatiently waiting for my brother to inform my of my tupperware deal, which was supposed to go through last week. I'm also constantly refreshed mecha, mefi, meta, and askme ever few minutes. I swear to god it's easier to get crystal meth than it is to get tupperware. fuck.
We are getting snowed in pretty bad today. Soph and I headed out to Costco, and everyone was driving old-man-slow and apparently the snow made people dumb too. Ah well. I also noticed the quiet in mecha-land, but figured it meant people had stuff to do in meatspeace.
actually, remember the Alou brothers in baseball? Jesus, Matty & Felipe? It's a little known fact that Boog Powell of the Cleveland Indians was their brother, too, but he changed his name cause he didn't want to be known as Boog Alou.
(yeah, it's corny. but the young jonmc was showing my dad my 1977 Topps Boog Powell card and asking about the man's funny nickname when he first heard that joke)
It was cold here. At a friends house, I stripped off the operating system and installed ubuntu on her new computer. Later, we ate lentil soup and discussed the future of the Respect party. When I got back home, I watched Star Trek, Stargate and Malcolm in the middle.
I took a load of crap out of the basement and to the dump. Then I helped some new kids in town haul some furniture. Next I'll go grocery shopping for the first time in three weeks. Then I'm gonna do some CAD work. When I'm worn out from that, I'll have a drink and watch a movie.
We took the kid out for her first Indian food. She sat politely with her napkin in her lap, said "please" and "thank you" to the waiter and tried absolutely everything on the table, no matter how strange it looked. Conversation mostly consisted of answering her questions about India and the music playing. Seems she likes the sidhar.
She's the coolest preschooler I know. I'm really proud of her.
That's so cool, jrossi4r. You know, I clearly remember the first time I went with my parents to an Indian restaurant. I was probably about preschool age, too. Of course, I didn't like any of it at the time (I grew out of that) and the owner of the restaurant kindly gave me a bowl of yogurt.
Maybe your daughter will remember her first Indian food, too!
That's awesome that you remember it, amro. I hope she does, too. So many of my friends have kids that will only eat mac and cheese. (Which is common for 3-4yos.)We're really, really lucky to have a kid who gets genuinely excited about trying new things. It's fun.
We were over in Bremerton for the 90th brithday of Science Girl's great aunt Evie. She's getting around a little slower than previously, but otherwise quite well and sharp as a tack to boot.
Now everybody else (meaning SG, dog, and cat) is in bed and I'm here, sipping on some bourbon, listening to Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane and the slap of rain on the window, while the lights across the valley twinkle for me.
And, for what it's worth, I never had Indian food until I was in my late twenties. Y'all are wise to expose your kids to different cuisines while they're still forming their tastes.
