Hoi! Two things: One, when did MeCha move here? What's up with that? I know that I haven't been around in a while, but huh?

Two: Awesome set of Italo Disco. I dunno. I can't post to Metafilter for another day or so, and even then I'm thinking of doing something on Aceh, so I thought I'd show this to you guys.
if they're copying Sylvester (and many others, etc), is it really Italo Disco?

There's actually a pretty good explanation of the term in that link.

Is this that Disco Italiano stuff they used to advertise on channel 5 when I was a kid? They also had Disco Latino and Disco Polska as I recall. And people wonder where the backlash came from.

Heh. It's the icy, goofy, Morodor influenced disco. I can't really speak to your childhood geography...

This would be the New York Metro area. Weird foreign disco comps seemed to be big around there.

Ha! Gotcha! I'm Swedish. I just live here. I used to live in New York. Right above the cowgirl hall of fame on Hudson street. :) Didn't make me American (though I did consider myself a newyawka)

it is true that you get fan-frickin'-tastic danishes in Denmark. However, here they are called "Vieanna breads". Go figure.

Right above the cowgirl hall of fame on Hudson street.

you're shitting me! I work (and thus type many of my brilliant posts and comments) from the office building on the corner of Hudson & Spring, right down the street! I've snarfed down chicken fried steak and nachos at Cowgirl many a time! I even took Wino, Dame & Hugh there once! Great Black Eyed Pea Salsa! Superfluous Exclamation!

We didn't move, we're just sleeping on dabitch's couch.

jonmc getthehellouttahere! The best thing about the cowgirl are the margaritas served in old jars. When I was back in 2001 I was shocked to see that the old "Taxi" house a block up on Hudson (star of the TV show you know) had been replaced by some new building. But the more things change, the more they stay the same, the cowgirl was like I never left it. :)

...and it's a nice couch. Make yourselves at home. Have some mac&cheese.

You cannot step in the same river twice.

Especially when it done cut itself a new channel through dabitch's yard since last time you come round.
