Dear Sweetheart,
Please cook me some prunes.

Love, Daddy
Daddy sure liked those prunes.

Old folks' handwriting. Did your grandma and grandpa call each other "mother" and "father"? Mine did, and I always thought it was kind of weird. Is it thing of their generation, or do people just hit a certain age and decide to call their husband "Daddy" (and not in the kinky way)?

Seems to be three schools of thought in the comments:
1. Daddy has a medical condition necessitating lots of prunes.
2. "Cook me some prunes" is a strange and kinky code phrase.
3. Daddy just really liked prunes. A lot.

I'm going with a combo of 1 and 3.

I'm going with "Daddy is senile".

My mum used to call my dad dad. I wonder if she still does now I don't live with them? It just doesn't bear thinking about....

My mom doesn't talk to my dad anymore, but when she does it's either through us, the kids, or "hey, you."

It's it wrong that I like prunes?

I love prunes. But not cooked. Ew.

My father in law calls my MIL "little girl" which makes me extrememly uncomfortable. I think I would prefer some version of "mommy"

those notes made me feel funny.

bye bye!

Why doesn't he cook his own goddamn prunes? Bastard.

Great, now I've got Foreigner's "Urgent" stuck in my head!
posted by mischief 23 January | 15:56
Better than having it stuck somewhere else.

(because then you would need prunes. see how I did that? the full circle thing?)

Smooth move, iconomy. (See how I kept it relevant?)

Tee-hee.

See how I did that? Smooth Move is also a kind of tea. Tea? Tee-hee?

This makes me think about poop!

(see how I did that? ...)

me3dia, I had to come back to tell you... well... sweetheart, I think you know what I want.

Heh. No - not really. But just that it's so bizarre, I had to revisit the page today. And this time, in the comments section, I found an explanation of how the notes were found:

They were in a box of letters.
At the bottom.
In an envelope.
With a rubberband wrapped around it.
Written on the front.
"Notes from Daddy"

Which just makes it even more surreal.
