Blog Radio. Worker bees, there is purpose.
Music I found through various blogs on the internets. For two hours or so.

Excuse any jarring transitions, this is random.
posted by panoptican 17 January | 14:45
Mostly indie rock and pop with a little bit of hip hop.
posted by panoptican 17 January | 14:45
For those who miss it, I intend to re-broadcast at somepoint. Just saying.
posted by panoptican 17 January | 14:54
Well, since this is for me, I guess I need to abandon KEXP now.
posted by matildaben 17 January | 14:57
Yes, you do. But actually you don't. That's ultimately up to you.

So what are your favorite blogs? Mine generally cluster around You Ain't No Picasso, Gorilla vs. Bear, I Guess I'm Floating, Said the Gramophone, Music For Robots, Largehearted Boy, and the ones they customarily link to, but I need to branch out. (I don't have access to my home bookmarks right now so I'm just guessing.)

You need to check out Soul Sides, Good Rockin' Tonight, Ear Fuzz, Crud Crud, Honey Where You been So Long, Chocoreve, Little Hits, Big Rock Candy Mountain, Music You (Possibly) Won't Hear Anyplace Else and Garage Hangover.

nice. i've actually been watching soul sides on a recommendation from you and little hits on a mention from dodgygeezer. a couple others that are nice in a podcasty way, indiefeed: electronica, hip hop, folk and rock.

Funky 16 Corners, Diddy Wah, Down In The Groove and Home of The Groove are superlative as well.

and don't forget record brother. i think you would like it especially jonmc if you haven't already seen it. i can't remember who pointed me to it, but it was a mefite/mecha.
posted by panoptican 17 January | 15:23
I have gotten some great shit from recordbrother, who is himself a mefite.

You played the Tall Dwarfs?! Fuck! I have drunk with them before. They made their music in my home town.
posted by gaspode 17 January | 18:06
Really!? That's fucking awesome. More people need to be able to say they drunk with bands they enjoy. I drunk once with Andrew Bird and his Bowl of Fire before he blew up last year. This was in 2003. Lots of fun. Anyway, I only recently discovered the Tall Dwarfs and pretty instantly they've become a favorite. I've been listening to them non-stop the past few months. You'll have to catch this set when I broadcast it again.

Chris Knox flirted with me one time and I did a bad imitation of his NZ accent; and another time I got up on stage and sang with him (along with 2 other audience members), but I was the only one who could actually sing.
posted by matildaben 17 January | 18:44
man, matildaben. Your story is way better than mine. *pouts*

Do you listen to any other NZ music, panoptican? I have a buncha stuff a lot like TDs.
posted by gaspode 17 January | 18:56
I can't say for sure. I listen to the The Mint Chicks, Crowded House and The Datsuns on occasion but there may be more. Those are the only one's that I actually know to be from NZ. At least the only one's I can think of at the moment. Whatcha got, in a nutshell?

hrrmmm...

The Chills, Straitjacket Fits (my fave band), Abel Tasmans, Betchadupa, Split Enz (of course), High Dependency Unit, Jakob, Elemeno P, Sommerset, Dimmer

Off the top of my head. Lots more. Always keen to evangelize the NZ music. If you like Tall Dwarfs, I can make you a kickass mix cd.
