12 January 2006

Record consecutive days of rain I wasn't kidding about the rain. It really has been raining for 24 days straight.
I thought you guys only counted days without rain.

We got about 20 minutes of sunshine yesterday. It was a little weird.

I was running some errands in the car during lunch hour yesterday and I actually had to find out where the hell my sunglasses had gotten to. Fortunately by the time I got out of the store and headed back to work, it was raining again.

Looks like you're gonna beat the record.

No frickin' way. Do you have a boat outside?

I would seriously lose it in that climate.

As a Coloradan, if I go 3 days without seeing the sun and bright, blue skies, I begin to entertain thoughts of suicide.

I'm homesick, but not that homesick!
I'm sending warm, dry thoughts.

It's a drag to try to walk the dog in this sort of weather, but otherwise I dig it. It's one of the reasons I moved here in the first place.

It's no better down here in the P-town, but I stopped paying attention around ten years ago.

As for this "sun" you speak of, It burns us it does! We hates it!

Moreover, I scored more prozac yesterday, so it's all good. w00t!

Odd, glorious blue skies, bright sun and 55 degree weather here in the 'burgh. It's January 12. It should be doing that freezing rain/sleet/snow ugliness that the local channels just call "winter mix".

One of the local Seattle comedy shows a few years ago did an amusing sketch making fun of the local news shows. It was called "Sun Break '98" (or whatever the year was) and done in that overemphatic style that local news does when reporting on extreme weather phenomena.

For those who aren't from the Pacific NW, a "sun break" is when the sun comes out for a little while during a long gray/rainy season.

Back in the day, about ten years ago, when I was an undergrad here in Portland, (Reed College) any sight of the sun resulted in the obligatory Sunny Day Keg. Everyone would imediately drop whatever they were doing and converge on the student union porch to drink.

In other news, we're on our 1,643,589,890,674th day of having gravity. Why would you expect tomorrow to be any different?

Time to stand up and fight!!!

We're on our 25th day of rain in the Lower Mainland (BC, about 150 miles north of Seattle). Our record is similar - 28 days set in 1953.

That's one good thing about playing in Seattle all those years," he said, "you get used to throwing a wet ball." Warning: wingnut blog

It's currently 64 degrees in Vegas.

I'm weary of the sun, though, and hope to move to Seattle some time in the next 5 years.

I was recently told that Seattleans ... ites ... don't need screens on their porches, because there's never enough standing water to breed mosquitoes.

You've been lied to, sir. We do indeed get the skeeters.
