I was running some errands in the car during lunch hour yesterday and I actually had to find out where the hell my sunglasses had gotten to. Fortunately by the time I got out of the store and headed back to work, it was raining again.
Odd, glorious blue skies, bright sun and 55 degree weather here in the 'burgh. It's January 12. It should be doing that freezing rain/sleet/snow ugliness that the local channels just call "winter mix".
One of the local Seattle comedy shows a few years ago did an amusing sketch making fun of the local news shows. It was called "Sun Break '98" (or whatever the year was) and done in that overemphatic style that local news does when reporting on extreme weather phenomena.
For those who aren't from the Pacific NW, a "sun break" is when the sun comes out for a little while during a long gray/rainy season.
Back in the day, about ten years ago, when I was an undergrad here in Portland, (Reed College) any sight of the sun resulted in the obligatory Sunny Day Keg. Everyone would imediately drop whatever they were doing and converge on the student union porch to drink.
