Do you love your boss? I love mine.[More:] She's so nice and smart and she likes me and she gives me big projects because she thinks I'm smart. Yaaaay boss! (The last woman I worked for was a monster BITCH who scares away all her employees, so I know what I speak of).
Eh, he a bit of a lazy jerk, but he can really get things done when there's a deadline.

That's great.

I HATE the new bosses at our company, at least the top echelon ones. One of them, who wears a Indiana Jones type hat over his bald fucking head in the office, I overheard in the elevator talking about his new apartment in Battery Park City, but mentioned that he's not giving up either of his houses. I googled his boss, the motherfuckers worth almost a billion dollars. Meanwhile I'm comparison shopping hot dogs.

We have been warned (in our tedious weekly meetings) that if we lose another client, we're toast. I certainly hope so.

My boss is great--very encouraging in all my ideas and projects, works very hard himself, and always has a smile and a positive outlook. (Unfortunately, he has no power, and the people above him are small minded bureaucrats, but oh well...)

wow...I should paste my email convo with dame into this thread. Suffice it to say that I DO NOT LOVE MY BOSS.

(I should mention that I have had good bosses in the past, but those were store managers who were really just workers one level above me. As far as the high-level guys go, it's meet the new boss, same as the old boss.)

I feel doomed to work for paranoid, disrespectful chumps. Perhaps I bring it out in them? I dunno.

My boss is very good, but very demanding. I constantly feel less smart, less motivated and less together than her.

My old boss is just psycho.

My boss is pretty good - he's smart and knows how to navigate the shoals of being a middle manager, and when to step back and help. My previous boss was sweet but less effective in a managerial sense (promoted developer).

I haven't had a regular boss since October, 2004. And she was a headcase. I've had good and bad - the last one at the ad agency gig I just ended was a superstar, gave me tee-shirts and other free stuff, complimented my work and wanted my resume. So that was cool. But mostly, I think the average is 80/20 Tool-to-Decent Human Being so far.

Mine was cool until the shit flew, then showed himself for the dumper he is. Disillusioned me.

Fantastic, he helped me conquer my illusions. Just fucking great.

Yes, my boss kicks ass. I have a metric shitload of paperwork to do because my position is grant-funded. One of the idiot parts of the paperwork is determining exactly how much "progress" all of my computer students are making each time I see them. The Big Boss decided that I should fill out a form before and after each session I have with them (I do tutoring, drop-in time at the lab, and some classes). In my mind, this was like saying to someone who is learning how to read HOW MAMY LETTERS DID YOU LEARN TODAY, WRITE THEM DOWN HERE. CAN'T WRITE HUH? DUMMY!

My students are seniors usually, and have some sort of learning problems almost always. They're learning things like "how to double click" and "what does the scrolll bar do?" My boss has spent a lot of time trying to explain to the Big Boss that what he wants is unreasonable, counter to the purpose of the program, and downright silly. She has endured a lot of sucky phone calls with petty bureaucrats on my behalf, leaving me free to do my job. Plus, she knows how little I get paid and takes me out to lunch every other week or so. Generally I'm one of those "I hate my boss and my boss hates me" types, so this is a pleasant surprise.

Um my boss is me. So somethines yes, sometimes no. She needs to grow the kahunas to charge more, but other than that, she's ok.

I've worked for many MANY micromanager control freaks who pretty much destroyed my self confidence by being a moving target and causing me to second guess myself since I could never get it right. I do not miss them.

Well
I have kind of a love/hate thing going on, because I work in a small office and we are all fairly close. Let's say mainly fond, while thinking he is a bit of a maroon most of the time (although quite smart about some things) and sometimes abject hate.

Like on Tuesday, I came over with the world record old school exorcist style stomach flu, like convulsive vomiting, like if you heard it you'd either think I was over-acting or in danger of coughing out my liver and lights and I call in sick and he's asking me a million questions about everything which is what he does because I foolishly micromanage the office and this means I really should be there and our webhost let our domain expire and I'm getting that sorted (via the phone) and trying to explain that to him in terms that a pre-literate Papa New Guinian would be able to understand and totally dehydrated and sorta thinking about maybe puking up some blood just to break up the monotony and then he starts in that my being this sick is great because I quit smoking and my body is purging itself of "15 years of toxic shit" (this bitch was the kind of smoker who never bought his own, then he quits because I did) and I'm thinking in my head "Yeah ass, me and wifey and the 10 year old kid all have violent vomit shooting out of us every 20 minutes and are probably gonna end up in the ER on IVs at the end of the day and it's because I quit smoking you fucking hippie solipsistic twat", only I don't say that because we are not that close, although yesterday I did tell him he was wrong and being annoying and stupid when he said that and he just laughed it off because it looked like I rode to the office on a skeletal horse and left my scythe in the umbrella stand.

But he just gave me a raise and got me health insurance and lets me leave early when I have to pick up the kid and sometimes he's funny, so like fifty-fifty love and hate.

My boss is fairly laid back.
The lower management types here got us some kickass holiday gifts (dinner and a full spa package for the women, leather coats for the guys), and generally lavish a shitload of gifts and perks on all of us (three club-level pairs of hockey tickets each season, concert tickets, football games, regular team outings to games where they rent boxes and the like, parties, happy hours, etc).

It almost makes up for the fact that the corporate types suck and I bring home less than $15,000 after benefits and taxes for fifty hours of work a week, and my annual raise was an insulting 13.2 cents an hour.
