Metachat Merchandise! Since I just finished the wiki page I thought I'd put it up here again. You can get several designs on mugs, bags, underwear and even t-shirts.

I bought the vampire bunny shirt, and despite my wash/dry attempt my medium was too big, so I donated it. I think there's a children's story in there somewhere...sort of a Harper's meets Edward Gorey meets Everyone Poops.

The book is still meant to be happening. But now you mention it, it seems unlikely it'll be me who finishes it. Guess I'll have to find someone to take over.

Dodgy: I'm the managing editor of a 3-year and running anthology publication. I've been a copy editor for four years and I ~~herded cats~~ am a guest liaison for an anime convention in New Jersey and in Washington, DC, and was one for Disneyland in California.

What do you need to keep this project going?

Out of my immense respect for dodgy (and my immense guilt), I would like to publicly and shamefully admit that I am a large part of the reason that the Metachat book has stalled. I agreed to proof a chunk of it, but I'm having problems with responsibility lately.

Actually that's not true, it's all my fault. Well sort of. Basically the shit hit the fan around here when I had work problems, major projects to complete and another job to find as well as all of lifes other little chores to get on with. I was basically too knackered to dedicate the time required to chase folk up to get all their bits and pieces done. In fact I still am and will be for some time.

What do you need to keep this project going?

It needs someone who can co-ordinate contributors and proofreading, can pull the book together and make it look good. If they can also get it into a PDF and get it to the publisher (one of those print on demand deals) then that would be ideal. If this work had to be split up between a few people then that could work too.

One thing though: Even with the best will in the world I think that if most of the people here read the book before it's published then virtually no one will buy it. Which would make it kind of pointless.

But sure, if anyone thinks they can drive that jalopy then I'd love to hear about it.

I, Lipstick Thespian, shall rise to the occasion and do the following:

1. Buy one Meh Clock at some point in the near future.

2. Help to take on the proofreading chores of the Mecha book. I love proofing, and while I have no job/life/girlfriend, I will be happy to do as much as possible for it.

Let me know what needs doing, and I'll do it.

matilda, at this rate you'll be running everything.

My last experiences with Streamload weren't too positive, the money specifically for that hosting has run out, and since everyone around here has been hammering the shit out of yousendit I figured that may be the way to go in future. Sound good?

In any case I wouldn't recommend continuing with the old method so it'll need some rethinking.

So yeah, if you want to take that forward then be my guest. Feel free to contact me about it if I can help.

I totally understand the idea that everyone and their mother doesn't need to work on the project. But I'll still offer any line editing/proof reading/layout assistance you need. I was the editor of my college paper, so I'm good at marking things up with red pen and hollering about deadlines.

Everybody knows PTO stands for Power Take Off -- as found on the back of tractors.

Trust the Brits to put it on the front. Sort of like the clutch transfer rods on Norton Commandos.
