I was taking my 6-year-old son to be the other night, against his protests, and he said "Dad. You've been my enemy for years."

Chaka Khan asked Stevie Wonder for help on how to sing that tune, isn't that cool?

Good something:
Whuffles for Flo!

I got my Christmas amazon.com gift certificate (thank you, thank you, wealthy friends!) order: The Duhks which unfortunately seems to be an "enhanced" cd, grr, arr, doesn't that mean I can't rip it?
And, on the allgoodside, Patricia McKillip Moonflash & Steven Brust & Megan Lindholm, The Gypsy, and Tim Powers, Last Call and The Drawing of the Dark. Yay me.

You always make me laugh. That's something good. So does jrossi4r. And ColdChef. And probably others, but your names come to mind first.

It looks like we just landed two jobs that will keep me in work through summer! (This is big news, since we've been starving for work for almost a year.)

It's Friday.

Tim Powers is fucking awesome, that is good!

Mygoth, have you ever read On Stranger Tides?

posted by Divine_Wino 06 January | 16:21
Yeah, that's what turned me on to him - a friend loaned it to me a couple years ago. I have been looking for a copy of Last Call for the longest time, so I'm totally excited. First I have to finish Cloud Atlas though.

It's Raining Florence Henderson,

Up until just now, I was confusing Florence Henderson ≡ Click to see image ≡ with Marla Gibbs ("Florence" on the Jeffersons)≡ Click to see image ≡.

This confusion is now resolved, I am happy to report.

I need to get the Stress of Her Regard and them I've got them all.

I wish he would write faster, bless his heart.

IRFH,
I'll tell you something good, i just defrosted a can of bud from the work fridge and it's warm and nasty and I LOVE IT.

Not necessarily, I don't think. Most of the "enhanced" CDs I've seen simply have extra video clips or Shockwave-type thingeys on them if you put them in a PC's CD drive.

But you might want to check for sure.

My mom's been having health problems and has been hospitalized a couple times lately for chest pains and severe hypertension. They sort of accidentally discovered that she has pulmonary hypertension, which is h.b.p. in the lungs. It's very rare -- only affects about two people in a million.

This was really scary -- if they don't find a cause (and sometimes there's not one), they can't really treat it. And if they can't treat it, risk of stroke is apparently pretty high. (And it runs in the family.)

But today they found that the cause is sleep apnea, which is pretty easy to treat.

So she's in the clear.

And I'm very relieved.

And this is something good.

can i say another something 'orrible?
about what i told my dad at 7?
posted by ethylene 06 January | 19:33
Let 'er rip.

i'm juble early
wrong thread!

my dad did and said something particularly 'orrible in his complete immaturity.
so i turned as i walked away and said right in his ear very quietly with deadly gravity:

"i'm going to put you in a home when you're old"

the look of horror on his face showed me he felt fear.

i have rescinded it in writing since.

he knows in his heart of hearts i will be the one to care for them when they are unable.

but when he found out i was smoking cigarettes regularly
even though my sister had smoked to his knowledge
he quit cold turkey and never went back.

he has fake bummed my smokes since i bet he's he's had one "at the club"

and he stole my one hit once and i bet he tried it.
or tried to.

i am the second intented child and i was suppose to be a boy.

i have a far more serious question.
anyone okay with that?
posted by ethylene 06 January | 20:49

here's my something good (2 things, actually): my stomach thing (bug) is gone, and i'm going away!

Something good....my beautiful boy and I have been married for one year. He surprised me with a wonderful Christmas present and one week later he surprised me again with a wonderful anniversary president. He loves to surprise me, and I love being surprised.

Plus the 2 dozen red roses he gave me are still fresh and beautiful, even though the cats did their best to destroy them. They got knocked over, but the heavy crystal vase was unbroken and only a few of the flowers lost their heads.
