"Iconic" BBC Video (but only for UKians). The BBC has posted a collection of video clips from their archives, but only for UK folks and under the Creative Archive License. I'm envious from here on the eastern coast of North America.
Looks like it's going to be mostly news archive footage. Which could be interesting I suppose, but don't expect them to release any of their entertainment backlist this way. Auntie may be non-commercial but they she still has a fiduciary responsibility to get some value out of the materials that the licence fee-paying British public funded.

If it's under the CAL, how can they prevent it from getting to the US?

I suppose you mean they arn't bothering to host it for non UKians.
