Thanks for the tip on Foobar2000, panoptican. I imported 29,373 tracks into Foobar, the vast majority of which I have probably never listened to (I'm an inveterate downloader). I picked the first playlist it generated, only modifying the order, not the included tracks.
We started with:
The Kinks - A Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy
Ennio Morricone - Astrzione Con Ritmo
Patricia Barber - Autumn Leaves
The Pogues - A Pair of Brown Eyes
Chevrolet Studio Band - An Exciting Thing (Driving a Car)
3 Mustaphas 3 - A Ova/Valle Epogradecit
Aaron Neville - Aaron Neville - I Owe You One (his name was in the title too because it was downloaded on a podcast).
Annie - Always Too Late
Stevie Wonder - Another Star
John Vanderslice - Amitriptyline
Superaquello - Amigos de Lejos
Rickie Lee Jones - A Face in the Crows
Mates of State - As Night as Now
Broken Social Scene - Anthems for a Seventeen-Year-old Girl
Thee More Shallows - Ask me About Jon Stross
John Martyn & Beverley Martyn - Auntie Aviator
Camper Van Beethoven - Axe Murderer Song
I'm not so thrilled with the set, but you know what I control freak I am with my radio sets and mixes. The problem is there's tons of stuff that I've downloaded from god knows where that I've never listened to.
You know, I've pulled up a couple of random sets myself tonight, and while I like the idea in principle it just hasn't quite worked as well as I'd hoped outside of a couple of segues I wouldn't have thought of on my own. (I say this without having heard your set, as I was at work at the time.)
