22 December 2005

So, what's everybody planning to do in 2006? Hmmm?
I'm gonna get my shit together.
posted by mr.marx 22 December | 15:25
Stay Alive. Maybe get a different more meaningful, better paying gig.
posted by jonmc 22 December | 15:26
Eat better. Be nicer. Have more fun. Study the Tao Te Ching every day.

Which sounds squashy-minded. I hope it's not.

Oh, and "Stop Reading Metafilter."

Do you mean resolutions or things we are planning?

I'm heading to NZ for 2 weeks in Feb/March. Yay!! And then hopefully Sydney for a week in November.

Resolution-wise, various boring work-related things, as well as run some more 10kms.
posted by gaspode 22 December | 15:32
Relax.

And give up resolutions.
posted by warbaby 22 December | 15:34
Going to Ghana in Feb/March for a whole month! Can't wait!
posted by ramix 22 December | 15:36
Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

and so on.

Although, depending on the exact instant at which midnight falls, I may end up doing it the other way around.

I'm gonna get in my totally awesome flying rocket car and go have lots of sex with scantily chrome-clad future babes on the moon.
posted by loquacious 22 December | 15:42
I'm too overwhelmed to even contemplate thinking about this right now. Woe is me.
posted by Specklet 22 December | 15:42
I wasn't actually thinking of resolutions, at all, because I never make them (I mean I make them, but not formal New Year's type ones).

If all goes well, I'm starting my PhD in September, probably moving to a different city (see item 1), losing a further 25 pounds, trying at some point to fly over to visit a friend in Ireland, working through to the end of July at current enjoyable job, and, after yesterday's announcement that Radiohead will be playing a series of small venue gigs in theatres in the UK in May and the States in June, arranging to catch as many of the shows as I can (probably just the American ones though, much as I'd like to follow the UK tour as well).

I'm hoping to get my mental shit put together well enough to be able to look for a job. Oh, and become Dictator for Life. You know, the usual stuff.
posted by deborah 22 December | 15:45
OK then, jokeefe...

Well to be honest, I have no plan. I never have. I don't do plans. Papa's a rollin' stone, baby...

I don't even fucking know what I am going to do in the next 30 minutes.
posted by Divine_Wino 22 December | 15:52
Well, you'll probably type some more shit here, then walk down to the corner store, buy a bottle of Makers Mark and deliver it to your ol' pal jonmc.

does that help?
posted by jonmc 22 December | 15:54
I'll turn 26 and hopefully rekindle love with the woman i love...

Sometime before now next year, i hope to be living in NYC somewhere or another...
posted by Schyler523 22 December | 15:54
hmmm... well getting a new job would be nice but nobody seems terribly interested in taking me on so far.

And as God is my witness I'll never be hungry again!

Wear an SPF of at least 15 every day.

posted by rainbaby 22 December | 16:04
Figure out the game plan for 2007 and 2008.
posted by chewatadistance 22 December | 16:05
I'll be heading to SXSW Interactive in March, a week in New Orleans in June, followed shortly thereafter with a family reunion. At home, we may start to tackle redoing the bathroom.
posted by me3dia 22 December | 16:09
Oooh and to add: start planning our eventual move back down under (which won't happen till 2008 or so, but with jobs to get, etc....)
posted by gaspode 22 December | 16:14
I want to get the hell out of South Florida and move back to Canada...maybe Toronto? The political climate here is enough to make one sick.

I want to apply to grad school, which I put off during all of 2005.

Barring that, I want to get a better paying job, or something closer to what I want to do, which I'm not entirely sure on.

In general, I want to figure out my life.
posted by SassHat 22 December | 16:15
No plans.

Would like to:
1) Pay off credit card
2) Go to UK
3) Have some sex
posted by matildaben 22 December | 16:16
1) Two weeks in Western Europe in February
2) Two weeks in Eastern Europe in September

If 2006 doesn't involve sex in some way, I'll be very, very sad.
posted by cmonkey 22 December | 16:29
In 2006 we will move, potentially for the last time, ever!

And, bigger and even better, we will be welcoming child #2 in May! Don't know if its a boy or girl, at this point we're just hoping its human. Actually, healthy is my only request.

Going on Equality Ride (equalityride.com), starting college, hopefully stayin' in love.
posted by jaksemas 22 December | 16:41
Oh, and I will bake each and every one of you a pie and hand deliver it on horseback in 2006. Just to show I care.

I'm going to get at least some of the furniture projects I've planned and aquired material for completed. This starts once it's warm enough fo glue to dry without freezing in my shop.
posted by Mitheral 22 December | 16:52
I'm buying a new car. (Ok, maybe a "newsed" car.) I am also planning on getting a new apartment because this one is getting to be a little too expensive. Damn rent hikes. I would also like to quit smoking - for good this time. And I'm planning to start running more, provided my knees hold up.
posted by LeeJay 22 December | 16:57
I'll be travelling to new places and listening to new music. I would also like to fool around more.
posted by urbanwhaleshark 22 December | 17:08
In 2005 I did jack. In 2006? I'm not doing jack.

I have to get a job, have to get a job, have to get a job, have to get a job. You know what I have to do? Get a fucking job, man.

mgl: On New Year's Eve, when I take my place atop the sacred picnic table clad only in a cardboard glitter hat and strategically placed noisemakers and molest the nearest man in order to perform the annual midnight pot-rattling, wish-making ceremony I shall add "get mygothlaundry a kickass job" to the wish list, right in between "curse my bunions" and "buy larger noisemakers next year".
posted by LeeJay 22 December | 17:32

anyone want to marry me?
posted by amberglow 22 December | 17:46
Get a new job, maybe get something published (hey, it could happen), maybe possibly finally get married. But not to amberglow, sorry. My fiance would not approve.

Stuff and Things. Nightswimming. Whuffling. Travelling. Staying in bed late and rubbing my feet together while listening to music and looking out the window thinking about Stuff and Things. Writing words. Taking pictures. Laughing. Crying, at least once for good measure, but probably at some random commercial that's 10 years old but that I've never seen. Drinking a negrito. More Stuff and Things. And then, Other Stuff and Things.

posted by Triode 22 December | 20:59
Drinking a negrito.

Just so you know, in Spanish, "negrito," is a racial slur. I'm sure you don't mean it that way, but you may want to be careful where you say it.
posted by jonmc 22 December | 21:02
I'm going home (bangalore, India) in august. yay!

and gaspode: we should totally have a meetup in yr honour when you get to sydney.
posted by dhruva 22 December | 23:45
jonmc, I know exactly what a negrito is in a number of different contexts. This was a reference to an inside joke.

Thanks, though. The heads up is appreciated, nonetheless!
posted by Frisbee Girl 23 December | 04:26
Woo hoo, 'pup!

Triode, you must be joking: alcohol and nightswimming traditionally go hand in hand.
