Yes. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people. Tucker Carlson, Ann COulter, Bill O'Reily: these are not fringe figures in the US, unfortunately, but are fully in the mainstream. Ignore them at your peril.

One of the greatest things I have ever seen was jon Stewart calling Tucker Carleson names. He so had it coming, and was clearly flustered by Jon.

One of the scariest things is that I think PinkStainless Tail is totally right. Lots, and lots and lots of people think these guys rock.

I don't know; I'm at one of the more conservative universities around, and even most of the people here seem to think Carlson is a bit of a twit. He came here to speak last year, hence my data points on the subject.

Carlson was CNN's house right-wing twit the way that Allan Colmes is FOX's house moderate twit (billed as "liberal"). No, he isn't influential, and Coulter really isn't either (although compared to Tucklet, she has a slavering fanbase). Coulter doesn't propose or make policy; she serves as an attack dog and someone to put outrageous ideas out there so that we yawn and stretch when we hear the Constitution has just been eviscerated. Hey, at least we're not nuking Canada!

No one I know even begins to take Carlson seriously and I'm in one of the states that went for Bush. Bill O'Reilly is just conservative TV's version of Howard Stern. He's FOX's shock jock. I seriously doubt he believes half of what he spews out.
