MeChaMusicalRadio followup... Has anyone sucessfully done this with a Mac? I went looking around to download Shoutcast, but it seems pretty clearly a Windows only application. I'm using an iBook, OS 10.2.8, obviously no WinAmp. Any advice appreciated. Thanks!
Well, dodgygeezer mentions a mac DSP here. I don't know if anybody's used it, though. If worse comes to worst, you could zip it and mail it to me. I'll upload it, but I'd have to go out and walk the dog while it was running. :p

Evidently, it can be done... but not simply.

This page has this:

Download the SHOUTcast DSP Plug-In for Mac OS X, Linux and FreeBSD

This archive is for advanced users who wish to source content on their Mac OS X, Linux or FreeBSD servers and feed the audio into a SHOUTcast DNAS instead of using Windows. The Linux version permits input from a soundcard in addition to MP3 files on disk. Please refer to the example .conf file included with the archive for more information on using this beta unsupported method of broadcasting.

To download these tools, please click here. [filesize - 226k] Instructions are included with the installer.

Maybe download it, have a look at the instructions, and see how awful it seems. :) Otherwise, yeah - just get one of us Windows types to stream it for you.

I've been working on just this issue and so far haven't come up with anything good. Said DSP works, but the way I understand it, you'll broadcast anything coming off your soundcard, which I'd like to avoid.

Yeah, that part made me nervous. I mean, compared to, say, the other members of my family, who are pretty much internet/computer illiterate, and who think I'm some sort of techy genius because I can hook up a printer and get it working, I'm doing okay. But I'm no programmer, and the phrase "source content on their Mac OSX, Linux or FreeBSD servers" is scary.

I'll make up my playlist and find a nice Windows user to broadcast it for me-- matildaben already offered. So thanks, all.

...And bmarkey offered too, with bonus dog walk thrown in. Thanks. :D
