MeCha: The Musical. I'm thinking of asking for the keys to Radio Mecha, in order to play a set consisting exclusively of pre-1970 Broadway show tunes. Question: will you all run screaming, or will you listen, dabbing a wistful tear from your eye, as Robert Goulet sings "If Ever I Should Leave You"?
Holy crap, I would so listen. I would run around and scream too.

I would totally listen!

If ever I should leave you...It wouldn't be in summer...

The pre-1970 ones are the only ones I know. Unfortunately, I can never seem to listen to radio mecha. Lots of hiccups.

do it
please?

I would not listen. As much as I love cinema, musicals make me break out in hives unless they are sexually-ambiguous rock operas. I do think it is an excellent idea nonetheless.

i'd listen too, as long as you throw in a little movie musical stuff too.

I'd listen!

Yeah, I'm planning on it, actually. Pre-1970 and mostly Broadway is what I'm looking at right now, actually. With a bit of filmic stuff too.

Excellent! I'll email Mr. Geezer.

I'm with scirius, but that shouldn't stop you from doing it, since it sounds like others would enjoy it.

I would listen; it would probably remind me of the stuff my mom played when I was growing up (she was a singer).

I'm putting it together now.

It's so nice to spend some time in an irony-free zone, I have to say. Oh, and Julie Andrews? A goddess who walks among us.

She's on ABC right now, jokeefe.

Really? Damn, I must have missed this.

Applause! Applause!

God bless you jokeefe, but I'm with scurius on this one. By all means do it, but I won't be able to listen to it. Working in theater killed musicals for me like Black Flag kills roaches: dead.

Not to worry: I'll give you plenty of warning. :D

But who doesn't like listening to Put the Blame on Mame, huh?

'Course it works better if you're actually watching Rita Hayworth smoke up the screen, I suppose.

I loooooooooooooove musicals! I would definitely want to listen. If I could figure out Mecha radio :-\

I like old musicals. a lot. Maybe we need a 12 step group?
posted by theora55 18 December | 00:22
I originally mistyped that as 21 step group. That must be the one for dyslexics.

I spent two years in a college full of theatre majors. So, I , of course, would run screaming. And possible commit hari-kari.

By cosmic coincidence, The Sound of Music is on CTV right this minute. God, it's awful. It doth both suck and blow. Good thing I hadn't planned on using any songs from it.

But it's worth it just to hear Julie Andrews sing. Yeesh, what a voice.

Awful? Awful??

The Sound of Music rocks!!
