Hanukkah Rocks --a new album by the LeeVees (one Zambonis guy and one Guster guy) Click on the frying pan to listen.
i played a couple fo tracks by the zamboni's when i was a dj at wxyc.
meh.
just meh, really. gimmicky.

it is gimmicky, but Xmas songs were too, once. There's something about Hanukkah that makes it song-resistant.

related thing in NYT today: A Happy Hipster Hanukkah--...No classic Hanukkah films or ballets were inspired by it. There is no "Miracle on Hester Street," no "Radio City Hanukkah Spectacular." Jewish songwriters have been more inclined to compose Christmas songs, including many of the most beloved: "White Christmas" (Irving Berlin), "The Christmas Song: Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" (Mel Tormé) and "We Need a Little Christmas" (Jerry Herman), to name but three. Adam Sandler's 1995 "Hanukkah Song," in which he enumerates Jewish (and semi-Jewish) celebrities, is the closest thing to a mainstream Hanukkah tune. ...
