Out of curiosity, I went to nic.kz to see what the new regulations were that they used to revoke the borat.kz domain, but everything off the English-language front page is in Cyrillic. Meh.

They need regulations to revoke domain names in Kazahkstan?

Isin said the borat.kz Web site had broken new rules on all .kz sites maintaining two computer servers in Kazakhstan and had registered false names for its administrators.

I didn't know Babelfish had a Kazak->English option. But in trying to make head or tail of it I have to ask: isn't "had broken new rules" bureaucratese for "was in violation of rules we added for the purpose of finding him in violation of"?

What's weird is that Borat looks nothing like an actual kazakh, who look actually Chinese (maybe a little paler) Definetly not the big-hary greek type that Borat plays. Oh well.

what's also weird is that the point of borat isn't to make fun of kazakhs but to make poignant commentary on the nature of racism by having an outsider or alien say things people are comfortable hearing from naturalized or familiar voices.
