they've been too inconsistent. they had, what, the second highest number of points in the seeding? but they've been all over hte place. loss to denmark, what?

How many teams go through from each group? 1 or 2? If 2, we should be OK. If 1, it's not a foregone conclusion(o fuckit, nothings ever that with the England team).

we're fine. it can be one or two, depending -- one is guarunteed. the second comes depending on points, etc, with the other groups, if i remember right. i don't know why, but i always found the group stage just too damned confusing.

England'll probably get through the playoff rounds, but I don't expect anything other than the usual. In complete opposition to every one of my countrymates, I think it'd be nice to see Germany doing really well. With the current economic climate, they could do with some good news.
