Ask Mecha: Enhanced CDs. For my birthday yesterday (yay!) I received "Matisyahu Live at Stubb's!" You might recall him as the Hasidic reggae superstar. Anyway, it's one of those enhanced CDs, and it won't play on my car and is killing my office computer. Is there any way to isolate the audio tracks for listening in anything other than a PC? Gracias in advance!
Rip and burn baby. I so very much hate enhanced CDs.

I thought about that, but the only files coming up are a folder for pictures, a QT installer, and start.exe, which I guess is the autorun program. So can rippers kinda blow through the start program and find the hidden files?

There's a torrent. That could save you some trouble.

First off, may I suggest writing the record company? You purchased a product that was warranted fit for certian uses, and it is not.

Secondly, are you on ze PC or ze Apple?

Thirdly, yeah, just download it.

PC at home and at work.

I concur. Write a letter and download away - you legally own that CD, and you should be able to listen to it.

Download it. Also hey, that Hasid reggae is pretty good, but your link up there goes to a how to beat traffic tickets site, I think you meant this. Thanks for putting me on. Also Happy Birthday.

PC at home and at work.

I don't promise this will work, but:

Get youself iTunes if you don't already have it.

Open My Computer

Hold down SHIFT and pop in the cd, keep it held down until the icon for the cd drive changes to show that it's seen the CD

Fire up iTunes, if the CD appears on the left, click it, then "import" up in the top right. If your fussy, you can play with the options for bit-rate, format, etc.

Make a playlist of the album (selecting all the songs and dragging them to the left pane should do it) and then burn this to an audio CD.

I dunno about your problem, but that's a great album.

I'm going to see Matishyahu with my dad on Christmas day. They're serving kosher chinese food, too. Sometimes I like living on the east coast.

Also, for future reference, emusic has his other album. Much cheaper there and none of that enhanced bullshit.
