Ouch, quit poking me. Damn, I'm feeling the full the weight of that there popular opprobrium today. Anyone else feeling that opprobrium?
i've just come from an attempt to inject some levity. rothko and optimus chyme shall certainly soon show up to point out that i'm no longer funny. sigh.
hey, I commented in the meta thread, but just to say, you seem like a good guy who I would like to have a beer with - I for one am not projecting the original comment out any further.
I had always assumed that ikkyu2 only played a "doctor" on the Internet and in real life was a lab tech or mental patient or something where he was exposed to a lot of medical information and jargon, which, combined with good search engine skills, made him sound reasonably convincing as an MD.... So I'm very surprised to find out he apparently is actually a licensed MD.
Hey, the comment was proof enough, ikkyu2 ;-)
You know, I saw this as a bit out of character for you, but then on reconsideration I mapped it into an episode of ER, say with Weaver vs. Romano in a deathmatch, maybe with a dialog polish from Quentin Tarantino a la Crimson Tide. Having a pillow-soft bedside manner probably means you also have to have an asshole reserve, just in case you have to work with assholes.
I got no bunnies. I'll buy you a beer at a meetup though. As a sysadmin, my job is taking care of computers. I fancy that it is a very dim echo of the stress that MDs get. As such, you are alright in my book.
I've always enjoyed your very knowledgeable comments. I very consciously limited the number of people I linked to on my Mefi profile, and always for a comment I particularly appreciated. You're one of the people I linked to.
I was a bit uncomfortable about long-distance speculation of Tom Cruise, and I thought the dress-down with latin a bit over the top.
But I've also always believed that being very good -- which your give every appearance of being -- justifies some arrogance.
