I love that book. Goodnight Moon is one of my most fondly remembered childhood stories, right up there with "Fox Went Out On A Chilly Night" (which was probably my favorite).

I don't feel that strongly about the publisher's having thrown the author's cigarette down the memory hole, but it is a little unsettling. Not as bad as Spielberg's rifles-to-walkie-talkies switcheroo in the reissue of E.T., but still annoying.

We don't give young kids enough credit. Us older folks were exposed to cigarettes and guns aplenty in our chosen family-friendly entertainments, and we mostly turned out OK.

It sure looks weird the way he's holding his hand without the cigarette.

Looks like he's rubbing his nipple. I think his other hand is a little further inside the pocket, too. So they've turned him from a smoker into a perve. Brilliant!

All smokers are pervs. I, of course, say this as a smoker, a perv and a doctor.
