When I got up this morning and turned on the news I saw that people CAMPED OUT at Best Buy and Wal-Mart to get the Black Friday deals. It is 28 degrees outside. People are INSANE.

I do not understand Black Friday. Not at all. You'd have to pay me to be out there this morning.

I saw a tv that I wanted in the newspaper yesterday, advertised for 500.00 less than usual, if you got to Sears by 6 AM this morning. I told my husband I'd rather fork over the extra 500.00 than deal with the insanity that goes with this kind of crap. I do like Christmas, but hate the shopping, and this year, if I can't make it myself or buy it off of a small, locally-owned business, I'm buying it off the internets. Screw the big chain stores.

The only thing that could get me to the mall today would be a fire sale on submarines (really any submersible watercraft). That would be cool.

Of course, they'd hike the price on submarine trailers to cover the savings.

Maybe I could just get them to roll it into the river and I'll drive it home.

I would never get up that early for a sale. Still a friend's 16 year old son camped out for the xbox launch and scored 4 of them. He flipped 3 of them each for more than a grand. Kid has an entrepreneurial spirit.

It completely baffles me. A few years ago I was helping a friend come up with ideas to advertise "Buy Nothing Day" on campus.

Imagine huge cloth banners spaypainted:

"Capitalism is Death!"

"Consuming Makes You Fat!"

Oh, and those meat pillows, do they smell like these?

Lay your head on my meat pillow

I dunno about you, but that line never works for me.

Now I can *finally* enjoy that dream where I eat a pork shoulder and wake up to find the pillow gone.
