Rocket 88 First Rock Song or first Product Placement.

(I particularly love the line: boozin and cruzin along!)

Yes, my Hi-Fi is so hot the wax is melting!

[[bonus: my spellcheck knew 'cruzin' but not 'boozin']]

maybe some bad boy could hook up a mp3?
I have an m4a of it. I could send it to you, if you can convert it to mp3.

Rocket 88 is the first rock and roll song, product placement or not (besides, rock and roll wouldn't have happened without capitalism, god bless it) and it still sounds great even now, despite Ike Turner's involvement (proof that horrible humans can make great music).

When I took the tour of Sun Studio in Memphis oh-so-many years ago, they played this to us while explaining how it was the first rock song (and it was recorded there). Very cool.

That tour is great, BTW, if you're ever in Memphis. Sun Studio is just one room with a control booth next to it, but you get to hear all these legendary songs by Johnny Cash, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Roy Orbison, etc. while standing in the very SPOT the songs were recorded. I had goosebumps for days.

interrobang: I've got it in my catalog. I was just hoping someone else would be interested in the common good enough to plumb a line to an online copy.

First Rock Song or first Product Placement ?

Neither. See the Wikipedia entry on the First Rock and Roll record. There are many earlier songs far more rockin'. Wynonie Harris's There's Good Rockin' Tonight, for example, predates Rocket 88 by 3 years. As for product placement, see Rum and Coca Cola.
