Cream of sweet potato soup = yum. It was my first attempt. Should this be in mecha cooks? :/

click on the profile and send an email - she'll put you on the contributor list. Everyone should do this! I'm the only one posting recipes over there and at any moment I might turn evil and post something really really horrible and then, well, then *tries frantically to think of what might happen* it could be, uh, gross! Yeah! Gross.

Oh and in the meantime? Post it here.

First, lemme 'splain, Lucy. I don't have a 1/8 tsp measuring device. So I faked it. I also sorta added more chicken broth than it called for by about a cup. And I sprinkled some cinnamon in for the helluvit. I think some crushed pecans on top woulda been good too. And maybe some chives? Are they those small green onion tubes?

I am fair to moderately clueless in the kitchen. Is it ok to freeze it?

Here ye be:

3 large sweet potatoes peeled and sliced
2 cups chicken bouillon/broth
1 tsp sugar (I used Splenda)
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp-ish of salt
1 1/2 cups half and half

Put potatoes and bouillon in cooker (crockpot type device), cover and cook on high 2 to 3 hours until potatoes are tender.

Puree potatoes and liquid in a blender. Put it all back in the cooker and add remaining ingredients.

Cover and cook on medium 1 to 2 hours.

Makes about 1 quart.

yoga, thanks for the recipe. It sounds amazing, and seems so simple. mygothlaundry, I was just going to comment on your killer recipes over there! Squash soup and hot pepper jelly are two things on my to-make list for this weekend. I made hot pepper jelly last year and somehow lost the recipe. The accompanying photographs are fabulous, and your writing style makes it all very entertaining. Thanks for all the work!

Also, the spammy comments are creepy and yet hysterical. How about the one from the person who claims they run a "pork chop blog"?

I liked the one about "cooking kid."

I'm working on getting rid of them now, didn't realize how much they had built up.

I just visited the Court Square Diner (Jackson/20th) here in Queens for a long lunch of Manhattan clam chowder, a turkey BLT, french fries, coleslaw, a pickle, and a Coke. I enjoyed the first thirty-two pages of a book Divine_Wino gave me last night called Popular Music from Vittula, by Mikael Niemi.

I took a very long time eating, and I feel quite refreshed, thanks. I'll be slacking pretty hard this afternoon, and I don't much mind. If someone else minds my slacking, that's their problem, isn't it?

Ahhhhh, I feel good.

Cool Kelly, note on the way shortly. mgl that sqaush soup looks yummy too. I really like soup! Keeps ya skinny and fills you up. mmmmmm. iconomy, the onlything that was a pain was having to clean up a blender too, but there are worse things. The soup is really rich - almost like pumpkin pie filling.

The pork chop blog spam kept catching my eye too - but somehow I resisted clicking on it, go figure. ;-)
