PLEASE HOPE ME I have a track with a name, but no artist. A country/folk song "Prodigal Son", sounds like Laura Cantrell or Lucinda Williams a little, doesn't seem to be either. I may have gotten it from MeCha around 10/30.

I quite like it and wish to give it the Last.FM statistical love it deserves. These are the rough lyrics:
[More:]
i was born with a wild heart and instinct to run
far from the things that i fear
but i always come back like a prodigal son
protection's what you offer here

my language is
you can speak in my tongue
to the heart of the prodigal son

well you break me and you brand me
and you force me to bend
to the wishes of hard hearted men

with a jerk of the rein and the jab of the heel
and the hands that no longer can feel

if you let me go flee
it's toward you i would run
to the heart of the prodigal son

you can ride me you can guide me with soft hands and
the patience the master you serve

cause when you feel for the try and you try for the feel
i'll give you the trust you deserve
trust can't be forced but in time will be won
from the heart of the prodigal son
from the heart of the prodigal son

They google not, neither do they spin.
What's that? Alt-M you say?

Wow that's the second song in 24 hours that I couldn't find. The first being The Cheese Song (AskMe). I'm slipping.

*sulks in corner*

I had to google that name to see if it was a real person ;) I thought maybe you were answering this question, and commenting in this thread by mistake.

Heh, ico.

Eliza's father wrote "Bear Necessities" for the Jungle Book. She's great live. (Saw her about a month ago.) And, she's from Austin. I mean, come on!

And here's a couple more by her: River of Gold. This one's older and a bit folky.

Here's a newer song that's a bit more rootsy and totally kicks my ass: Man of God.

(Also, the backing vocals on Prodigal Son sound very much like Patty Griffin.)

Eliza Gilkyson!!! Ah, I must have picked up "Think About You" at the same time. I didn't know I got two ...

and now I have four :)

I knew somebody here would come through! Thanks mudpuppie!

Oh, this turns out to be one more that I have:
Witness

I wish official sites would do a better job of tagging their media.

But I'm slackjawed that these are the throwaway freebies.

Stilicho, I don't know where you got Prodigal Son, but I posted "Think about You" a while ago while trying to proselytize for E.G.

Thanks for Witness -- I don't have it.

I like to try Music Brainz on such things.
