Remember that sweet forum? It came out a couple months ago... it had a lot of AJAX and CSS in it... didn't look like a regular BBS/forum. I can't, for the life of me, remember what it was called - or where to find it. Any guesses?

What kind of forum? What was the subject matter?

I'm referring to forum software, not a particular forum. Sorry, I should've mentioned that. I remember there was a drop-down on the left-hand side that would allow the user to filter the threads by ones they hadn't read, etc.. This is killing me!

Meta? It may be technically brilliant, but it does look a little ugly. Lussumo, which I stumbled upon when searching Google for Meta, seems to have a rather interesting model. Looks pretty too.
