Jennifer Warnes, Famous Blue Raincoat... WTF? Static?→[More:] It sounds like shite on my rather decent home stereo setup. At first I thought I'd blown a cone, mistaking what I swear to god must be static in the recording!

Static?! On a freaking CD?! WTF, Jennifer?!

Or I'm crazy. Can anyone confirm or deny what I'm hearing? Attic ACDM 1227, Jennifer Warnes, Famous Blue Raincoat, The Songs of Leonard Cohen., Tracks 5-9 all sound like complete crap.

Maybe the CD is scratched. If so, how freaky that it comes out like that.

No scratches, no dust. No problem with other CDs.

Maybe it's a pirate CD?! Pirated from vinyl?! That's just too bizarre an idea...

My copy, Ariola/Cypress Records 258418, that I bought used through Amazon, doesn't have any static. Great CD, too. I have heard what sounds like static on older audio book CDs, though.

My copy is quite old---bought when it came out. Still clear as a bell. Take it back.

Could be tough taking it back. I bought it back when it was new. I'll have to see if I can find it in new edition, convince a store to swap it.
