Some Old Time Religion I just got the CD boxed set Goodbye Babylon...
[More:]...and I'm just enjoying it so much, I posted a couple songs to save you sinners tonight.

I grew up smoking dope and listening to Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Iggy, etc, but lately I've been getting into classic country and Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music.

The Goodbye Babylon set is a bit of a departure for me (I got a good deal on it) and I just wanted to share some. I'm sure I'm not finding Jesus or anything, but do ya'll think I'm crazy?

Are You Washed in the Blood of the Lamb by Da Costa Woltz's Southern Broadcasters, 1927.

Satisfied by J.E. Mainer's Mountaineers, 1936.
Not crazy. And thanks. Some in return:

Run to Jesus for Refuge - Charles Barnett

I'm a Soldier in the Army of the Lord - Peerless Four

Jesus Paved the Way - Dewey and Gassie Bassett

Sure. And if you like old-styley music that isn't (necessarily) religious in nature, head over to emusic.com. Go to Search. Choose "label" and punch in Yazoo. Then, click artists, then click Various Artists at the top. Over 100 albums there and they are fantastic and, in my neck of the words, normally about $25 each. As cheap as 18 cents a track at emusic. The place is a goldmine for stuff like this.

Awesome. That is good stuff. I'm an atheist, verging on fundamental, but I love gospel music, the older the better. I haven't figured out why, and don't want to.

Thanks both.

Oh, I want the set so badly. I've been kind of pining for it. I wish I had brought my computer in to download these songs with. Thanks for the link.

See also American Primitive I and II from Revenant Records, who also publish Anthology of American Folk Music Vol. 4.

Anytime we go to a music festival, we end up getting sucked into the gospel tent. If I ever have a religious conversion, it'll be some really good gospel music that does it.
