My Headache Is Epic [More:]I'm cranky and at work doing some freelance stuff, I wish I was home drawing but my drawings have been lousy all weekend. On a less whiney note I did get a shit-ton of cooking/cleaning/banjo practicin'/ cat and bird playtime in.

Anyone else feel bad taking a lazy day or two? I love domestic stuff, but lately I feel like I should be doing *work*.

Whatever that means.

Now I am whiney on the internet.

Apologies!

ps. I made lemon cupcakes things (sans frosting) if you live nearby me, come by and eat them before they make me fatter.

I'm dispatching my magic temple massage genie. You will feel better shortly.

I always feel guilt when I'm not productive. I'd like to blame a lot of people for that, but I know I only have myself to blame, which of course, just compounds the initial kernal of guilt. Actually, I'm procrastinating right now.

I'm sporting a headache all of a sudden, too. So, literally, I feel your pain.

Maybe the mold count just spiked after last night's rain?

maybe it is a citywide headache?

i would call friends to check, but ack that would make the headache worse...

I think refusing to feel bad about having a lazy day has improved my quality of life quite a bit. Sometimes you have to know when to just say fuck it. I also found a good way to enjoy a lazy-ish day is to get up early & do one productive thing. Then your day is sorted, and you can even have naps and such.

I'm sorry you don't feel well.

I tried dame, this morning I went to the pharmacy, made coffee, cleaned up around the apt and managed to make a batch of lemon cupcakes before 11am. But I still feel like a lazy lump.

I'm now at my office...rubbing my temples and not getting jack done.

Awww. Well, if I ever come back to Chicago (where I had the best omelette I've ever had and stayed in the most awesome cheap, mirrored cieling motel), I will kidnap you and force you to be lazy until your sould can be free. Then we will get all ambitious and productive once refreshed. Does that make your head feel better? Does it make you want to mail lemon cupcakes to Brooklyn?

*sending feel-better anti-headache vibes your way and drooling over the cupcakes*

Try not to feel bad about taking some time for yourself and doing nothing. Trying to fill every moment with work simply to feel productive - that way leads to burn out.

Wanna trade ailments?

Mine hurts more and is grosser, but on the plus side I get better drugs.

umm no thanks jonmc you can keep your wicky urinary/kidney/pee-makery problems to yourself!

(i'm glad you're healing up tho!)

dame, if I ever go to Brooklyn I'll bring you some!

oh and if you must drool over cupcakes... this flickr group is the best cupcake porn out there.

Lady, you can bake cupcakes and play the banjo. You're already way more productive than I am.

(I'm just a few paragraphs shy of completing an article that was due on Friday. I am the president of the procrasti-nation.)

I get headaches a lot on weekends if I don't get some productive work done around the house, because I feel that I am wasting valuable time if I don't achieve something measureable. I am sick.

But then, I get headaches a lot (about 3-4 times a week) and they range from niggling "pain behind the eyes" nuisances that go away with a couple of paracetomol to "I need to get home, into a dark room and lie down right now, or I am going to vomit and then pass out from the pain" monsters that no drug on earth can touch once they get started. One of those wonderful things I inherited from my Mother.

I know. It's too terrible to contemplate.

Surely someone will rise up to save them? The Pilsbury Doughboy, perhaps?

I'm holding out for a hero.

Yep. And I'm holding out til the morning light. (Then I'm giving up.)

That song "Epic" gave me a headache whenever I heard it. What an annoying voice.

Ms. Pants, If it's any consolation:

You're really pretty and very talented. I'm not in New York so I can't give you a backrub, but you can fly down to dallas if you like. :)

Strange... I had an epic headache yesterday as well... the kind that makes you throw up (*waves at dg*). I think I ended up sleeping about 15 hours, with a little help from my little white pill friends. I'm still feeling a little fragile.

I wish I had a magic wand that made y'all feel better. :(

Do they have Goody or BC powders up there where you live? (It might just be a southern thing...)

Basically it's like powdered aspirin or something. Tastes nasty but the headache is usually gone in ten minutes. (If you use it fold the little paper crosswise, with the powder in the fold in the center, then down the hatch as far back in the mouth as possible, followed by a big swallow of Pepsi -Coke is acceptable-to wash out the taste.)
posted by bunnyfire 07 November | 08:09
We have something here that is sort of similar to bunnyfire's Goody/BC, except it's designed to dissolve in water very much like an Alkaseltzer and has a kind of lemony taste to offset the bitterness; it works wonderfully well and very quickly for headaches that aren't of the monumentally crushing kill-all-humans variety. Headache sufferers may want to ask their pharmacist about something like this.

To me it seems that many flavors of headaches sort of build upon themselves, the pain bringing more tension, which then increases the pain... and so on. These really quick-acting powders or water-dissolved tablets can sometimes break that chain effect, even though the actual ingredients are fairly ordinary.
