Sally Go 'Round the Roses:The original, as performed by The Jaynetts, and a recent cover by Caroleen Beatty and Heavy Friends.
The original has always been a favorite of mine. There were a few other cheapy versions in the 60's by nameless girl groups that are also quite charming.
And here's an almost note-for-note cover version from British pop singer Dee King. I think this actually came out only a few weeks after the original. As with many of the girl group covers of the day, you can almost play the tracks on top of each other.
I think Dee King basically just made knock-off UK versions of American hits (but I can't find the comp with the liners - this was pulled from a girl group mix I made a few years ago).
The Great Society version that interrobang mentioned. I love Grace Slick (we share a birthday, even).
Whoa - I never heard this, the original.
I only heard it for the first time about six years ago. I listened to it several times a day for weeks after that. It's so poppy yet eerie...

I would love to hear some of these (on preview: aha, you've posted one already). I wonder how many covers we can get in this thread?
