Ask MeCha Do young women over the age of 30 lust after attractive manfolk that are much younger than they are?[More:] Because there is that saying for dudes "I really like high school girls, because as I get older they stay the same age." I recently learned that women poop and can grow pit hair so I thought I'd test other areas for overlaps. No, I'm not drunk. Yet.
Yes. Yes we do. My sister has a bunch of "proud virgin" friends and my immediate response was, "That's unnatural. Why would you give up the chance to have sex with teenage boys?"

My mother's immediate response was to smack me in the back of the head.

We do not poop. Where did you get that idea?

I read it on the internets.

I know you don't sweat. Y'all glisten.

Hells yeah. Damn but I wish I had the opportunity to corrupt a few teenage boys now.

I know you don't sweat. Y'all glisten.

actually, according to my mother, we glow.

That part is true.

And yes, I lust after manfolk that are much younger than I am (gimme gimme some Jared Leto). I also lust after manfolk that are much older than I am (James Garner- anytime, anywhere, and I'll still feel that way when he's 105).

I lust, therefore I am.

I don't. Okay, I'm not over 30 yet, but I'll be 30 shortly. I tend to prefer my men a few years older than me, actually.

That being said, when I was about 25 I had a huge crush on a 17 year old. Almost makes me glisten just thinking about him...

My girlfriend is eight years older than I am, and she seems to lust after me, so, yes.

Nope. I have a forties fetish, meself.

No. 32 years old, here.

Young men are, for the most part, tiresome, awkward, and interested in orgasm. My lust is for interaction, sensuality, communication, and multiple orgasms.

Just because the meal is prettily presented doesn't mean I want to eat it. I can admire someone's beauty and not want to get in his pants.

"At night all cats are grey" only works for me if the cat is a mature Tom.

I glow and excrete flowers, btw.

Speaking as a 46 year old male, ...

Oh, nevermind, my response would have been complete horseshit.

Speaking as a 44 year old male, I suspect the response that I typed out and then deleted was pretty much the same as michief's.

Tis true. World War II, Glen Miller, FDR..all that gets her wetter than the Amazon Rainforest.

Re: Forties fetish...

My favorite Madonna.

Legend has it she's in her forties now, too. So if she dressed up like the 40s in her 40s, well, double jeopardy for me. Schwing!

Actually, the 50's and pre-Beatle 60's were the coolest era in terms of style (although pop culture as a whole peaked in 1966. It's been proven, but I digess).

Think about it: greasers, rockabilly chicks, doowoopers, hot rods, it don't get any cooler.

To quote an old song from Pee Shy:

Where are you little dudes,
Don't you know I'm in love with you?
Well I ain't old enough to be your mom,
But you were six years old when I went to the prom

Anecdotal evidence: When I was a high school band nerd (not even IN band, so it's pretty sad), the director of the band (in his late twenties) was dating a band mom (in her early forties).

I'm attracted to men of all ages, but I have a hard time imagining myself actually in a relationship with anyone significantly younger. Doesn't mean I wouldn't try if I met the right one though.

Oh, if you want anecdotes...apparently several of my male classmates junior year of high school slept with our 44 year old geometry teacher. The following year, she ran off across country with one of them, abandoning her husband and three children. I ran into them a couple years later, as far as I know they are still happily living in Marin.

I am attracted to men of all ages as well. It really doesn't take much for me. Are you reasonably intelligent and funny? Cute, even if it's in an offbeat sort of way? Yeah, that's about all I need. I can tell you though that most of the men I find myself attracted to are my age (30) or older.

When I, a male, was in my early 20s, I spent two years in a relationship with a woman who was 18 years older than me. It worked out rather well.

So yes, they're out there.
posted by cmonkey 01 November | 22:32
I'm surprised no one has brought up the sexual peak aspect yet. If the rumors are true (I'm too lazy to do a search for studies), an 18 year old man and a 35 year old woman would be the ideal match sexually, if not necessarily in other areas.

I guess I sort of doubt this, at least in some cases. But it's what they say...
posted by amro 01 November | 22:47
Oh, I missed the "lust after" part of the question and was responding based on what sort of romantic partners I am attracted to. As far as simple lust goes, well any age goes. Within reason of course.

Best. Sex. Ever.

Seriously. Y'all should try it.

Lust after? Yes.
Follow through? Not so much. I've had a crush on a 21 year old guy I know for a long time - I haven't got the guts to do anything about it and I know I never will.
But really, it's so much about the funny - age isn't as important as personality. A guy can be gorgeous as all get out - if he can't carry on a conversation, blah, I'm not going to stick around long enough to get into bed with him.

I will say I don't want to date older any more - I don't want to end up pushing some old guy around in a wheelchair when I'm still relatively young and healthy, and by the time you get to my age (206, I think) that's a worry. Women live longer than men. I'd be better off in the long run with a guy a few years younger than me. Also, men tend to lose interest in sex as they age. Women don't.

Way back when I was in my 30's, one of the sexiest women I've ever known told me that the best sex she ever had was with an eighteen-year old. But then again, she also told me that I was the second best. I chose to believe her. She's passed on now and I still miss her. She was so sweet.
posted by warbaby 02 November | 00:44
I was, uh, corrupted by a woman 14 years older. Alas, for a variety of reasons I don't look back happily on that relationship.

I was approached a couple of times by other older women, too, but I didn't take them up on it. One was a colleague of my mothers who had me starting to think about it ...

when my mother walked up.

Find cute/attractive/sexy in an appreciative (though abstract) way? Sure. (Jason Schwartzman, I'm looking at you!) Lust? Nah, not really. I'm 30mumble and find my lust is pretty much reserved for fellas in their 30s and (more often) 40s. Boys in their 20s are awfully cute, but they're just that: boys. It's only men that really do much for me now.

The only disasterous relationship I've ever had was also the only younger woman I've ever dated.
posted by Eideteker 02 November | 07:52
As a 35, err. . .36 year old woman, I do, now, totally and completely understand the expression "like an eighteen year old boy" In terms of peaks. It's wonderful and terrible at the same time. But yeah, lust for me right now is pretty indiscrimnate: age and gender are meaningless - if I lust, I lust. But no, I'm not trolling for young boys.

Prove to me that it is not true and I will take it back. ;-)

I'm a 32 year old woman and yes, I do. When I went to Hoosier Hysteria (first basketball practice of the year, formerly Midnight Madness) at IU this year, you bet I noticed there's all kinds of hot on the team. : ) Never mind that I'm at least 10 years older than all of them. I may be older but I'm not blind. ; )

I usually go for guys my age or older, but sure, I lust after younger guys on occasion. (When I was 30, I dated a twenty year-old, and the sex was truly amazing...)

And yep, it's true what they say about the hormone surge that happens for women in their late twenties/early thirties. I now have an inkling as to what it's like to be an adolescent male and not be able to think about anything other than gettin' it on.
