Music Box Dub reggae, Afrobeat, maybe some jazz, you know how it is.
Fela is kind of the James Brown, or maybe more accurately the Bob Marley, of Africa. He started out playing highlife, but by the time of his death he had moved into a heavily funk- and jazz-influenced form of Afrobeat (and, as an aside, become a fairly significant political figure in his native Nigeria).
Afrobeat (like the song I'm playing now) is typically percussion-heavy African funk. Most of the songs are polyrhythmic and groove-oriented (and, usually, long). Typically, it's played by large groups of musicians, and, frequently, the lyrics have political content.
