AskMeCha: I can't get a subtitle file to play with a movie--help!!

i have an avi, and idx and sub files. (mac osX)

i tried VLC with load subtitles but got an error message when i selected the sub file.

i tried mplayer2 but that doesn't give me an option of loading the subtitle file.

I can't help you with this but what happened to the pic you posted before? I went to post a comment and whackababang!! It was gone.
