Bill O'Reilly on Daily Show For anyone who didn't see it. I was hoping they would really throw down, and they didn't so much, but there was one great exchange:

Stewart
: I will say this: We do add insult to injury --
O'Reilly: You do. See? He's an honest man.
Stewart: -- but you add injury.
My favorite part was the whole "why do you keep yelling at Marcie when Lucy is clearly the problem" analogy.

I don't know if you know this but they never found weapons of mass destruction.

Holy crap that torrent downloaded fast. I think I hit about 1,500 to 2,000k/s before I ran out of file to download or I finally hit my bandwidth cap.

meh. i was disappointed. stewart passed on tons of opportunity to crush him. o'dickhead is really something else. "we" have lotsa of evil to fight. "they're" afraid of "the factor". pfft. the man is evil incarnate - not because of what he says but because his whole schtick is calculated to pander to the insipid mongrel mind of the unthinking dorkopoly.

Thanks to the magic of channel 4 and tivo, this'll be waiting for me when I get home tonight.

woohoo.

I'd rather pork dolly than have a dorkopoly.

Is Jon Stewart becoming cautious? That would make me sad.

He certainly was... borderline polite to O'Reilly. It did make me a bit sad.

This was hardly 'Stewart on crossfire' good. O'Riley actually made me laugh a couple of times. "Admit it, you're just in it for giggles... see..." and Jon is giggling.

O'Riley came out all pissed off looking and seemed to stay angry the whole time. When the audience would boo, or cheer at Jon's points (which weren't many). O'Riley was too hostile to have a real discussion, and I would say, needlessly.

Ah well.

Somewhat entertaining, but not much of a debate.

This wasn't as bad as the Santorum interview. Stewart actually helped him look sane on that one.

Jon has all kinds of people on and this was the first time I've seen him do anything remotely impolite.

Just saw it now and apart from a few laughs it didn't seem to go anywhere. But then I wasn't expecting Stewart to rip him a new one - the guy's a teddy bear really.

It does raise two questions though:
Does anyone else think O'Reilly looks like a younger Rupert Murdoch?
The O'Reilly Factor for Kids - WTF?

I think it's unrealistic to expect Stewart to lay Crossfire-style smackdowns on his guests. My feeling is he's too basically decent and polite, plus if he did, people wouldn't come on his show.

O'Reilly was pretty clumsy. I think he was all o'reilled up from the get-go (starting off with an unprompted and not especially funny insult of Steven Colbert) and couldn't adapt when Stewart didn't get all up in his grill.

i agree with kiraracha but can't stop the proclamatory format because of the shouting thread, despite the capslocklessness
