What font is used in the Gizmodo logo? I tried a font finder web site, but it didn't find it.

Looks like Futura medium with a subtle bevel.

or it could be a variation/knockoff of Gill Sans with dimensional effects added.

It's a Gill Sans knockoff. I mean, the shapes are all Gill Sans, but I don't know the name of the specific iteration. See here.
