09 October 2005

Radio Metachat gets it's own page. To celebrate I'll be doing a session in about 10 minutes time so check in and check it out.
I love walking in and hearing Loudon. And now the Kinks? Your tastes are top drawer!

Thank you sir. I aim to please.

Then please try to aim.

Sorry about the mess.

Alright, I don't mean to sound like a broken record here, but you're hitting all the right grooves! The Creation, 10cc, and FOW are all regulars on the stereo at the Slack house. And to think I was just going to play a mix disc this afternoon...

Wow, Hugh! Did you get a 'puter of your own or are you at work on a Sunday? [A little late to the game, sorry!]

On broadband at McDonald's (I might move into the parking lot permanently) and you sound great.

I'm in Maryland, relaxing at my parents' house, listening on their computro. It's great!

I am so chomping at the bit to do this. I even have my playlist prepared.
posted by jonmc 09 October | 15:55
Yeah, I'd really like to do this once I get a computer of my own.

Thanks, dodgy... It was marvelicious!

Cool stuff! Now, all I need is to find a way to listen/dj and I will be happy. Of course, because it would make me happy, it will never happen.
posted by dg 09 October | 17:33
Well, if listening is a problem (ie firewall), im happy to host some of the shows if the djs record them, for a limited time.

In the 45 or so minutes I was able listen you played so much damn good stuff. This might as well as been a telethon, because when I heard 999 I broke out the PayPal sent over a few bucks.

When Scott Walker's take on "Jackie" came on I forgot that this wasn't one of my mixes. And i have never heard anyone else even make a reference to Chomsky, and you even played my favorite song off the album.

I'm also giddy as all hell to get behind the controls and take this thing for a spin.

Hey, missed the show ;(
Anyways, have you thought of using a p2p broadcaster??
That'd take the strain off of your bandwidth. Peercast comes to mind, though there are others. If people dl the client (I think it's like 2 meg) they help support the load (works like bittorrent), and people can also tune in shoutcast style if they don't have the client. So it's pretty much win-win.

Several thoughts:

1) Y'all should add this to the links on the left of the page. This is so cool, PEOPLE MUST KNOW ABOUT IT!

2) Damn, I missed another one.

3) I too would love to do this sometime, if it can be done from a Win98 machine.

Bravo, you artful dodgy...
I was at home on dialup with itunes... got lots of 'buffering' interruptions whenever I did anything else online, but even with the uncomfortable silences (and a couple abrupt transitions - I assume that's my buffer's problem), it was mucho entertainamente!

(Okay, the Buddy Rich "The Beat Goes On" was a little too cheesy for a non-Dr.Demento set)

Wish I could do some Radio myself but not until I get better connected... I just successfully uploaded my first file to yousendit after three attempts (music post coming, but it may take a while).

Thanks guys, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

And also thanks for contributions - you guys never cease to amaze me.

If you're interested in DJing then please e-mail me and I'll try and get you sorted out. Please be patient with me at the moment as I'm quite busy but I will get back to you all as soon as I can.
